Bartholomew J. McGettrick, OBE, KGCHS, Ph.D., is Emeritus Professor of Education and Dean Emeritus of the Faculty of Education at the University of Glasgow. He also was Dean of the Faculty of Education and Professor of Christian Education at Liverpool Hope University. He chaired the Board of Governors at St. Aloysius’ College for many years and was Principal of St Andrew’s College (the national college for the education of teachers) in Scotland. He is Chairman of the International Board of Regents of Bethlehem University (Palestine) and is a member of the Board of Regents of the American University of Madaba in Jordan. He is a member of The Grand Magisterium of The Equestrian Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, having served on the Grand Magisterium since 2003. He is currently President of The Holy Land Commission and formerly President of the Schools Commission for The Holy Land. He is Chairman of the Board of Governors of Tabeetha School, Jaffa-Tel Aviv. Among the honours he holds are: an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to education in the UK; “Ex Corde Ecclesiae” Medal of the International Federation of CatholicUniversities; Knight Grand Cross of the Order of The Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem; Golden Palm ofJerusalem; and Gold Cross of Jerusalem.
Richard J. Carwardine, CMG, FBA, FLSW, D. Phil., is Emeritus Rhodes Professor of American History and former president of Corpus Christi College at the University of Oxford. He also served as pro-vice chancellor of the university. His research and publications center on the United States between 1776 and the Civil War, focusing especially on the interplay of politics and religion in a society that tolerated slavery and lacked a national church establishment. Winner of the Lincoln Prize, he has a special interest in the life, presidency, and international legacy of Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth US president. His books include the recent Righteous Strife: How Warring Religious Nationalists Forged Lincoln’s Union, as well as Lincoln: A Life of Purpose and Power; Abraham Lincoln’s Humor; and Evangelicals and Politics in Antebellum America; among others. Dr. Carwardine was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2006 and was a Founding Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales in 2010. The Lincoln Academy of Illinois elected him in 2009 to the Order of Lincoln, the state’s highest honour. In the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2019 he received a CMG for services to the study of American History in the UK and the USA.
Nathan Law is a young Hong Kong activist, currently in exile and based in London. During the Umbrella Movement in 2014, Nathan was one of the five representatives who took part in the dialogue with the government, debating political reform. Upholding non-violent civic actions, he, Joshua Wong and other student leaders founded Demosistō in 2016 and ran for the Legislative Council with Mr. Law becoming the youngest Legislative Councilor in history. Yet his seat was overturned in July 2017 following Beijing’s constitutional reinterpretation and he was jailed for his participation in the Umbrella Movement, sparking global concern. In 2018, he and his fellow student activists Joshua Wong and Alex Chow, were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by US congressmen and British parliament members. In 2020, he was listed as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME, and was ranked No. 1 by readers. He is a recipient of the Magnitsky Human Rights Award, was named a Pritzker Fellow at the University of Chicago, and was awarded an honorary doctorate by Washington & Jefferson College. He is the author of Freedom: How We Lose It and How We Fight Back, and is the subject of the PBS documentary, Who’s Afraid of Nathan Law?
Isabella Bunn, JD, MPhil, Ph.D., is an international lawyer, policy advisor, and endowed professor of business ethics at the University of Oxford. She is Research Fellow in Governance and Global Ethics at the university’s Regent’s Park College, as well as Associate Director of the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture, and a Trustee of the Oxford Peace Research Trust. She is a member of the British Academy’s Corporate Advisory Group for the Future of the Corporation; a Distinguished Fellow in Corporate Social Responsibility at the Washington Institute for Business, Government & Society; and a Fellow of the Caux Round Table for Moral Capitalism. Her academic background includes degrees in foreign service, international relations, law, theology, human rights. Dr. Bunn serves on the International Advisory Council of Oxford Analytica, a geopolitical analysis firm, and has held leadership roles in the global legal profession including: Council Member, ABA International Law Section; Chair, ABA Center for Human Rights Advisory Council; International Co-Chair, Fellows of the American Bar Foundation; Founding Executive Council, Society of International Economic Law; Steering Group on Business and the Rule of Law, UN Global Compact; Board of Directors, Internet Bar Organization. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the ABA Rule of Law Initiative, which works around the world to support justice, good governance, and accountability.
Medwin Hughes, CBE, DL, FLSW, is former Vice Chancellor of University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Chair of Wales Church, currently serving as Founding President of Global Futures Alliance, inspired by King Charles, III, to develop young leaders dedicated to the common good. As vice chancellor, he was responsible for the largest-ever higher education merger in Wales, bringing together four universities and two tertiary colleges into a unified structure. In the process, he safeguarded some of the nation’s key cultural assets which were at risk of being lost forever – the University of Wales Press, the National Dictionary of Wales, the Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies, and Gregynog Press. He has been a strong ambassador for the promotion of the Welsh language both in higher education and in public life throughout Wales. His proactive role in supporting the mainstreaming of the Welsh language covers over 30 years of engagement. He is a graduate of Jesus College at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. The longest serving vice-chancellor in the history of Wales, Dr. Hughes was been honoured by His Majesty the King in the 2023 Birthday Honours List and made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
John C. Knapp, Ph.D., the founder and facilitator of The Oxford Conclave, is a consultant and speaker who served as a college president for 11 years, most recently at Washington & Jefferson College where he led innovative initiatives to enhance the student experience and strengthen competitiveness, resulting in record philanthropic support and enrollment growth. Previously, he designed and directed academic programs in ethical leadership at Samford University and Georgia State University, and worked with corporate leaders to establish a non-profit, independent executive-education center helping hundreds of businesses and professional firms address ethical challenges and sustain values-based cultures. He is a frequent keynote speaker for business, academic, and professional organizations, and has addressed major audiences in nine countries on five continents. He is the author or editor of five books including, For The Common Good: The Ethics of Leadership in the 21st Century (with a foreword by President Jimmy Carter). He holds advanced degrees in theological ethics and has been honored with the Georgia Governor’s Award in The Humanities, an honorary doctorate from Hope College, and recognition as one of the 200 most outstanding graduates in the first 200 years of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
